How to inject

The subcutaneous injection

For most peptides you inject subcutaneously. That means into the fat just under the skin, not into muscle or a vein. The fat layer is forgiving and the needles are tiny, so most people are surprised by how little they feel it.

Pick a spot with some fat to pinch. The belly is the most common, roughly a couple of inches to either side of the navel. The love handles and the upper outer thigh work too. Swab the skin with alcohol and let it dry, because wet alcohol stings going in.

Pinch a fold of skin to lift the fat away from the muscle. With an insulin needle you can go straight in at 90 degrees, or at 45 degrees if you are lean. Insert in one smooth motion, let go of the pinch, and press the plunger at a slow, steady pace. Pull the needle straight out and hold a clean cotton pad on the spot for a moment if it beads.

A little bleeding or a small bruise happens sometimes and is nothing to worry about. Drop the used needle straight into a sharps container, never the trash.
