About
This pairing puts synthetic Epithalon alongside MOTS-c in a longevity protocol. Epithalon is a tetrapeptide that people take for telomere, sleep, and visible aging claims. MOTS-c is a peptide encoded inside mitochondrial DNA that people inject for insulin sensitivity, exercise capacity, and energy. People combine the two because the claimed targets are different. Neither is an approved medicine anywhere. Both sell as research chemicals through gray-market channels with unverified strength and sterility. No product combines only these two components. The pairing is normally assembled from two separate vials.

Frequency
Epithalon is pulsed once daily for 10 to 20 days. MOTS-c runs on a separate longer cycle at daily to twice-weekly injections. The two are cycled rather than run continuously.
Dosing
MOTS-c is injected under the skin at about 0.5 to 5 mg per dose. People take it daily to twice weekly for roughly 1.5 to 15 mg across a week. Epithalon has no established injected dose. First-hand injected practice for it ranges from 50 mcg to 20 mg per day across a 10 to 20 day pulse. The two are run as separate vials on their own schedules. Each dose is set independently and the two amounts are not matched. The widely repeated 5 to 10 mg injectable Epithalon figure traces to a bovine pineal extract sold under a similar name rather than to this peptide. No premixed vial holds only these two peptides. The one co-formulated product found also contains GHK-Cu and is a different three-component blend.
Administration

Half-life
No combination pharmacokinetic study exists. The two components clear at different rates. No plasma half-life has ever been established for Epithalon in any species. MOTS-c has never had its half-life measured in people or in any animal. The one to two hour figure that circulates for MOTS-c was inferred from how fast the body clears the peptide it makes itself after exercise.
Side effects
- Injection-site welts, lumps, redness, or itching that several MOTS-c users describe lasting a week
- Histamine-type reactions to MOTS-c including one near-anaphylactic account
- Vivid dreams, daytime tiredness, or shifted sleep timing reported with Epithalon
- Raised heart rate, palpitations, insomnia, or fever collected from MOTS-c self-reports
- Blood sugar swings when MOTS-c is combined with diabetes drugs or other metabolic modulators
- Allergy, impurity, endotoxin, or sterility failures common to research-market injections

How it works
Epithalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. Cell culture work reports that it raises telomerase activity and telomere length in normal human cells. A 2025 study found the peptide drove a different telomere pathway in breast cancer cells instead. No human has had telomere length or telomerase measured while taking it. MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide whose gene sits inside mitochondrial DNA. It switches on an energy sensor called AMPK. An independent group confirmed the effect depends on AMPK. No cell-surface receptor for it has been found. A folate-pathway step proposed for it in 2015 has never been measured again. The stack pairs a nucleus and telomere peptide with a mitochondrial and metabolic one. No study shows the two work better together than apart.
Research quality
No human trial, animal study, pharmacokinetic study, or case series has tested Epithalon and MOTS-c together. The dosing schedules for running the two together come only from vendor pages that contradict each other. First-hand users generally run each peptide on its own. The case rests entirely on separate work for each component. Epithalon's human evidence is only two small studies and its telomere claims come entirely from cells in a dish. The long-running mortality claims people cite for Epithalon belong to a bovine pineal extract rather than to this peptide. MOTS-c has never been given to a person in a completed study. A 2026 FDA review found no toxicity, reproductive, or cancer testing and no measurement of how it behaves in the body. Its rodent work on glucose and exercise is real and has been repeated in several countries. A widely cited recruiting MOTS-c trial is registry pollution posted by a research-peptide seller rather than a real study.
Warnings
- MOTS-c is named on the anti-doping prohibited list and is banned in and out of competition all year with no reduced-sanction route for accidental use
- People with active or recent cancer should avoid it because Epithalon is sold to reactivate telomerase and MOTS-c is flagged as a pathway tumors could exploit
- The FDA's main MOTS-c concern is that injecting a peptide the body already makes can raise antibodies against a person's own supply
- MOTS-c can lower blood sugar and becomes harder to predict alongside diabetes drugs, AMPK activators, or hypoglycemia-prone conditions
- Neither component is approved anywhere and FDA has proposed keeping both off the compounding list over immunogenicity and missing safety data
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, fertility, and long-term repeated use have no safety data for either component
