Fixing a pen you cannot select

If your pen is greyed out under Taken from, the app cannot match its recorded contents to your dose. A pen entered only in mg does not tell the app how many clicks it holds. This guide updates an unopened pen entry so you can select it when logging a dose.

Check the dose unit

Check the Dose unit on the log screen. A dose in units cannot be matched to a pen recorded only in mg. The message under the pen asks you to add its strength.

If you already know your dose in mg or mcg, you can record that amount in your protocol and keep the pen in mg. To keep recording doses in units, follow the steps below.

Open the pen for editing

Close the dose log, open the pen from your inventory, and tap Edit. You can change its tracking unit while the entry is Unopened. An opened entry does not offer this choice.

How many pens counts the physical pens you own when adding stock. One pen that holds several doses is still one pen.

Enter the whole pen's strength

Tap In the whole pen under Strength. Enter the total compound in a full pen, then tap Done. This example uses 30 mg.

Check the strength and save

Check the line below In the whole pen. With 30 mg across three hundred clicks, each click works out to 0.1 mg. Tap Save.

The app counts one click for each unit in your dose. Use this setup when that matches your pen's scale. The recorded strength also lets it convert doses entered in mg or mcg.

Select the pen and log

Return to the protocol and open Log dose. Tap Taken from and select the pen.

This dose takes shows 40 clicks for the 40-unit dose. At 0.1 mg per click, that represents 4 mg. Left after shows 260 clicks.

Check the date, time, and amount, then tap Log dose. The app subtracts those forty clicks from the pen when you save.
